Najnowszy blog firmy o Tensile Machine Fixtures: Peel Test Fixtures – Types, Principle & Selection
Peel test fixtures are specialized accessories for universal tensile testing machines, designed to measure the adhesion strength between bonded materials. Unlike wedge tensile grips for pure tensile break testing, peel fixtures maintain a fixed peeling angle during the test to record stable peel force data for adhesive and composite samples.

What is the working principle of peel test fixtures?
The peel fixture is mounted between the upper moving crosshead and the lower fixed table of the tensile tester. The bonded specimen is fixed on the base plate. As the crosshead pulls at a constant speed, the fixture keeps the preset peel angle unchanged. The load cell continuously captures the force required to separate two bonded layers, calculating peel strength (N/mm). Consistent peeling geometry is critical to reduce test deviation and meet international test standards.

Main Types of Peel Test Fixtures
1. 90° Peel Fixture
Pull the flexible sample vertically away from the rigid substrate. Ideal for foam tape, protective film, coating on metal plates. Complies with ASTM D3330, ASTM D6862.
2. 180° Peel Fixture
The flexible material is folded back and pulled parallel to the substrate. Widely used for pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, labels. Suitable for ASTM D903.
3. T-Peel Fixture
For flexible-to-flexible laminated materials such as composite films and fabric bonds. Two flexible substrates form a T shape while peeling, following ASTM D1876.
4. Hook Peel Fixture
Simple hook-style peel grip, fit for low-load peel test of small adhesive samples, sticker and small laminated parts. Quick sample mounting for routine QC tests.

How to Select Proper Peel Fixtures
1. Peel Angle Standard: Confirm which test standard your lab needs, 90°,180° or T-peel.
2. Specimen Structure: Rigid + flexible substrate → 90°/180°; two flexible layers → T-peel.
3. Max Test Load: Match fixture capacity with your expected peel force.
4. Sample Width: Custom fixture plate size to fit your specimen width.
5. Sample Thickness: Thick foam or hard coating requires reinforced fixture structure.

Typical Applications
Adhesive tape, protective film, self-adhesive label, packaging heat seal, laminated film, foam adhesive, leather composite, coating adhesion test.
