NFPA-701 Methods 2 Textiles and Films Flame Propagation Testing Equipment

 

Application:

 

It is used to assess the propagation of flame beyond the area exposed the ignition source. It is applicable to vinyl-coated fabric blackout linings and fabrics including multilayered fabrics, films and plastic blinds, with or without reinforcement or backing, with area density greater than 700g/m2.

Specification:

 

1. Laboratory: in accordance with 12.2 of NFPA 701-2004

1.1 Furnace specifications: length, width (305 ± 5) mm, height (2130 ± 10) mm;

1.2 Structure: made of thick 1.5mm 304 # stainless steel. In front of a transparent observation window;

1.3 Top Sample Rod:

1.3.1 from the bottom of the furnace body edge 1190 ± 10mm, both sides should be set to 4mm horizontal alignment of the hole;

1.3.2 consists of steel rods with a diameter of (1.5 ± 0.1) mm or (3.0 ± 0.1) mm and a length of (330 ± 10) mm, which one end is cut into a sharp point;

1.4 Bottom sample rod: consisting of steel rods with a diameter of (1.5 ± 0.1) mm and (255 ± 10) mm in length, which one end shall be cut into a sharp point;

1.5 Vertical guide line:

1.5.1 A pair of vertical guide wires made of soft steel wires are located at the center of the furnace body (100 ± 5) mm on both left and right sides (the distance of the pair of wires is (200 ± 5) mm);

1.5.2 The distance between lines of each pair is (25 ± 2) mm (from front to back in the box)

1.5.3 The vertical guide wire shall be mounted on a rod of diameter (6 ± 0.05) mm

1.6 The upper part of the test room shall be installed with glass fiber cloth baffle with dimensions of (1000 ± 10) mm × (125 ± 5) mm; glass fiber cloth shall be made with glass sewing thread at each end (40 ± 3) mm (3 ± 0.2) mm × (330 ± 5) mm, and pass through the hole (4 ± 0.5) mm in the middle of the top of the chamber; (4 ± 0.5) mm × 25 ± 1) mm, each end is round;

2 Burner:

2.1 Installed in the fixed seat, into a 20-angle tilt;

2.2 Burner heat: 800BTU / ft3 ~ 1000BTU / ft3

2.3 Nozzle from the bottom of the test: 100mm

2.4 Flowmeter: for the rotor flowmeter, the maximum range should be 150 L / hr or 300 L / hr

2.5 Needle Valve: adjust the height of the flame

2.6 Pressure gauge: 0 ~ 1Mpa, the accuracy of 0.5

2.7 Flame measurement scale: measure burner flame height and sample size with an accuracy of 1 mm

3 Control section:

3.1 Igniter: high voltage automatic ignition

3.2 Timers:

3.2.1 combustion timing: 0-99.99s arbitrarily set, the resolution of 0.01s, accuracy of 0.1s

3.2.2 continued combustion time: 0-99.99s arbitrarily set, the resolution of 0.01s, accuracy of 0.1s
