The Taber abrasion tester is designed for testing materials including plastic, paper, coatings, textiles, leather, flooring, and more. This instrument provides fast and accurate methods for research, development, and quality control, complying with multiple international standards including ASTM, ISO, NEMA, TAPPI, DIN, SAE, and JIS.
The upper part of the tester consists of a specimen bracket and a pair of weighted grinding wheels. During testing, the motor drives the specimen fixture to rotate, creating friction between the grinding wheel and the specimen. After the preset number of cycles, the test automatically stops, allowing observation of wear degree to evaluate material wear resistance.
